Non-Profits
DuckDuck Co. has selected three different causes from two cardinal non-profit organizations that are dedicated to protecting and preserving British Columbia. Ensuring that we do our part in the fight against climate change.
Protect B.C's Forest's
The Ancient Forest Alliance is a non-profit organization that we have carefully chosen to select and are proud to be working with. The AFA works to protect B.C's endangered old-growth forests and to ensure a sustainable second-growth forest industry. Old growth forests are integral to B.C for ensuring the protection of engandered species, climate stability, tourism, clean, water, wild salmon, and the cultures of many First Nations.
Save B.C Endangered Species
We have teamed up with Wilderness Committee in fighting against the the proposed Terminal 2 expansion at Roberts Bank in Delta. The expansion is a huge step backwards, as B.C is already home to the highest number of endangered species in the nation. This expansion would put 191 of our endangered species at a direct threat, including the Southern Resident Killer Whale. At full capacity, more than 460 ships will use the terminal. Bringing an abundance of contaminants, noise pollution, and risk of a spill.
Halt the Trans-Mountain Pipeline
Fossil fuel reserves are deposits that are below ground geologically, but are above ground economically. Meaning that oil companies already have these deposits factored into their share prices. Burning through all currently known fossil fuel reserves would puts us over our worldwide carbon budget by a factor of 6. If we exceed this budget, climate change is widely deemed as irreversible. Halting projects such as the Trans-Mountain pipeline are essential in order to fulfill our climate action responsibility. Wilderness Committee refuses to give up, selecting to donate to this option would support activists and lawyers in attempting to Appeal the expansion.
